Sunny Days

Sometimes when I walk under trees on a sunny day I am reminded of you.

You the sunlight, and I the leaves

You don’t ruffle me too much but I appreciate the push

Glistening lips on the sheen of my skin, encourage me

And we dance together in ways people wouldn’t dare to know

But your rays and my roots tango for butterfly bushes

We waltz for the birds that sing a sweet tune solely to see us move together in tender steps

The fan of my breath on your neck

And pinches of skin between my fingers

Like grabbing onto strings of starlight

And pulling you into me

Because we exist in every plane,

I the moonlight and you the waves

Folding into my being

My pull and your push

Transcends way beyond the realm of dreaming

Because we more than real, we are raw and bleeding

Whether touching or apart, seeing

You move so slowly,

An angel’s breath gathers up in my core

And sprouts

Petals that look like the way my hair coils at the touch of water

And like the whisper of wish on the crown of a dandelion

We become one with the universe

Because i'm the rain and you the thunder

The deep rumbling in earth’s core

And the pretty droplets of wonder

Can’t you see the turning of it within me?

Life itself

Glides in between the letters of your name as they fall from my lips

Because we are life

The moonlight and waves

Rain and thunder

Butterfly flutters

And when your rays and my roots finally tire

New life will grow in our wake

Small and mighty

And I'll continue to walk under trees on sunny days.
